Please read this application package and all materials carefully. Incomplete application packages, or failure to comply with these procedures, may prevent your acceptance to the Academy

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE
Upon completion of the San Pasqual Reservation Fire Fighter 1 Academy, you will receive a total of 22 certifications.  On April 19, 2009, we became IFAC, (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress),  Certified.  This certificate is Nationally recognized, and can be used in every State.  As of October 17, 2008, we received  our State Fire Marshall Accreditation.  We are the only Native American Reservation in the world to offer both IFSAC and State Fire Marshall certifications.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Minimum age 18 years
· High School Diploma or GED
· Valid Driver’s License
Candidates must also successfully complete the Academy application.

SCHEDULE
The Academy is offered in a condensed 13 week format Monday - Saturday from 0700 - 1800. The entire program is 624 hours including an extensive physical fitness program. Class locations will be at San Pasqual Reservation Fire Department and other training facilities.

EXPENSES
The Fire Academy participants can expect to pay approximately $3,000.00 in cost for enrollment in the Academy. Also a non refundable payment of a $500.00 dollar deposit will be paid at the orientation to ensure a spot in the academy. These cost cover tuition, books, certifications, and a non-refundable material fee. The students will provide their own uniform pants, belt, and boots.

APPLICATIONS
All applications are due in the San Pasqual Reservation Fire Department Office (16150 Kumeyaay Way, Valley Center, CA 92082). Candidates must attach copies of all required certifications as outlined in this application package. This includes current driver’s license, high school diploma or GED, transcripts, certifications, and any other information required to support experience, training, and education.

ACCEPTANCE
The Academy will notify all candidates who successfully pass all phases. There will be a waiting list established. Physical training is an important component of the Academy. All candidates must be in good physical condition before entering the Academy. Training includes calisthenics, running, aerobics, and aerobic step exercise. Candidates will be required to complete a personal history report and statement indicating freedom from physical disabilities, which would restrict physical training. Those applicants who are unable to perform typical fire fighting tasks will not be accepted into the Academy.

CONDUCT
The Academy is run in a paramilitary fashion. Candidates are expected to adhere to strict rules of conduct. Appearance and grooming standards will be enforced. All questions regarding Academy operations and expectations will be answered during the Academy Orientation after appointment to the Academy.

We look forward to your participation in the Fire Fighter 1 Academy program and in helping you succeed in your fire fighting Career.
